Our Talented Dogs are Really Rescues not Actors

Beechum was rescued from South Korea

Beechum was rescued from South Korea in 2000, where he had lived his entire life in an outdoor cage, enduring bitter cold winters and hot, humid summers, witnessing his “cell mates” being dragged to their deaths on a dog meat farm.

Thankfully, the dog meat farm was closed and all the remaining dogs, including Beecham, were rescued. After much loving rehabilitation, they were sent to kind families in the US so they could finally have the loving forever homes they deserved.

Beecham and Abby are roomies and best pals, sharing a beautiful condo in West Hollywood. Beecham is a survivor in many ways: he recently overcame cancer, and although he lost a leg, it has not dampened his spirit nor affected his ability to play a leading role in our promo!

Piggy's Journey: From Abandoned to Adored

Piggy (aka Pigz), a Pitbull mix, was found in Bakersfield, California—emaciated, dehydrated, and curled beside a dumpster, fiercely protecting her five puppies. Tragically, three had already passed away. Used for breeding and then discarded, she was barely clinging to life herself; yet still trying desperately to nurse the two surviving pups when the LaBelle Foundation rescued her.

Jennifer, a compassionate foster volunteer, took Piggy in. At first, she was terrified—afraid of traffic, cats, and crowds. But with time, patience, and love, Piggy began to heal. She gained strength, growing from a frail 39 pounds to a vibrant 76. Her transformation was fueled not just by nourishment, but by the kindness and affection she received from everyone around her.

As Piggy healed, so did Jennifer. What began as a rescue became a bond that saved them both. After adopting Piggy, Jennifer found herself being protected in return. Now a Registered Service Dog, Piggy provides daily support for Jennifer, who lives with type 1 diabetes—a condition marked by dangerous blood sugar fluctuations. Piggy plays a crucial role in her life, offering not only emotional support and companionship, but also an unshakable sense of safety. She instinctively knows when something’s wrong and responds with unwavering comfort, protection, and love.

Piggy’s story is a powerful testament of the resilience of animals and the life-changing impact of compassion. Far too often, dogs like Piggy—especially Pitbulls—are euthanized without ever been given a chance to heal or be loved. But with love, they don’t just survive—they thrive.

Despite everything she’s endured, Piggy remains one of the most affectionate souls—greeting everyone with warmth and breaking stereotypes with every wag of her tail. Piggy is finally living the life she was meant to have.

abby, found in las vegas

Abby was found walking along a busy Las Vegas street in a rainstorm in January 2022. Two teenage boys driving by saw her, stopped and put her in their SUV, most likely saving her from being hit by a car. They contacted Retrievers Rescue Las Vegas about a stray dog, and Abby was immediately put in a boarding facility in Las Vegas overnight.

A volunteer drove from LA to Las Vegas to pick her up and foster her. Abby had probably been used for breeding and was discarded - dumped at the side of the road because she was no longer useful. After receiving much-needed vet care and being spayed, she was adopted by her foster Dad and now lives her best life with fellow rescue Beechum in West Hollywood where she eats home-cooked meals and gets plenty of outdoor exercise letting the neighborhood squirrels know she’s boss.

Lincoln, an exotic-colored English Bulldog

Lincoln may not be a rescue himself, but in many ways, he’s a savior. As a puppy, his boundless energy and playful spirit gave his great uncle Brutus—who was battling cancer—an extra spark of life, helping extend Brutus’s time by nearly two years. When Brutus eventually passed, Lincoln was also there to carry his human through heartbreak, reminding him daily of the healing power of love and companionship.

Precocious and fearless, Lincoln is as stubborn as he is smart, with a sharp sense of humor and an insatiable appetite for play. But at his core, he is a big-hearted lover of love and cuddles, happiest when sharing joy with people, other dogs, and the wide world he’s always eager to explore.

He’s proof that sometimes, the ones we save end up saving us right back.
